A Day at the Races

Our second day in Lexington was Friday and luckily Kyle had taken a day off, so we were all together to play. In order to get a morning nap in for Charlie, we took a drive around the Lexington countryside. It was beautiful and Charlie slept the whole time.

After our drive we headed to the Keeneland Horse Races. It's a beautiful race track in Lexington that holds races for three weeks in April and three weeks in October. We bought tickets in one of the dining rooms and arrived early to watch the horses getting ready. Here we are in the Paddock.

There was a balcony off the dining room where we could watch the races. Below us is in the general admission area.

Here you can see the horses lining up in the gate ready for a race. Races started approximately every 30 minutes and there are about 10 races throughout the day.

It was homecoming weekend at the University of Kentucky so there were a lot of alumni at the races and the cheerleaders made an appearance also.

Before we left, we also watched a few races from the general admission area. It was amazing how close we were to the race track.

Charlie also enjoyed watching the races from so close. He had a great view from Kyle's shoulders.

It was a great experience and something we'll always remember. And with Kyle's excellent betting skills, we made about $18 on the day!
