After the presentation, we sat down for lunch. Charlie was very excited (and maybe a little confused) to see both his grandmas and me there. With both his grandmas there, Charlie was given way too many sweets. When we got home he threw up icing and cookies all over me.
On Thanksgiving day we had lunch at Nana and Poppy's house, then dinner with Lili, Aunt Alex, and Aunt Lynn. The most eventful part of the day was Charlie's allergic reaction/possible rug burn. We're still not sure exactly what happened. Right after eating a tiny bite of pumpkin pie, Charlie started saying "Ow Mommy Ow". I asked what was hurting and he said it was his back. His back was red and looked like he was starting to break out in hives. We gave him some benadryl and I just held him while he calmed down. It took a while but he finally relaxed enough to take a nap on Daddy. When he woke up, we left for dinner with Lili. His back looked better but not completely. A few spots on his back were starting to look scabbed, like a rug burn. By bed time, this is what his back looked like:
It has been healing ever since and he hasn't complained about pain since Thanksgiving. I talked to the Doctor about it and they said that hives will not turn into a scab like that, so we don't really know what happen. He was playing with his cousin on the carpet before lunch so it's possible that he actually did have a rug burn. Maybe the allergic reaction made it worse? Maybe he never had an allergic reaction and the timing was a coincidence? Who knows?!
Overall we got through the holiday without too much trauma and now we're looking forward to Christmas and Charlie's 2nd Birthday!!
