Potty Training

Are you ready for this?!?!?!!?

CHARLIE IS POTTY-TRAINED! For the most part, he just decided one day that he was ready and that was it. I had started refusing to put a diaper on him in the mornings until he would pee in the potty. I would take off his diaper when he woke up and told him that he didn't need another one until he peed in the potty. Sometimes it would make him really mad, but he never had an accident. Then a few weeks ago as we were getting dressed for school, he told me that he wanted to wear underpants. I was shocked and quickly gathered up a change of clothes and sent his teacher a text to let her know. He had one accident that day - on the playground, which is common - and that was it. Since then he has had a couple of accidents at home and not any at school or out in public.

Unfortunately he is only comfortable going on the small kid potty, so we have to dump it in the big toilet. When we are out in public, he will only go in the travel potty we have in the car. But he can make it several hours without going so it hasn't been a problem.

He still wears a pull-up during his naps and at night-time, but it is often dry. For now, we are so thrilled to have crossed this milestone, we'll deal with sleep time later. Way to go, Charlie!!!!
