Harbor Island Vacation - Animals and Beach Fun

As much fun as we had exploring the beach in the evenings, we also had fun exploring during the day.

There were animals everywhere. Every day we saw dolphins swimming behind the shrimp boats.  I was never able to get a very good picture.

We also found several horseshoe crab shells,

and hermit crabs still in their shells.

We liked to bring them back to the house and watch them walk around.

Parts of the island were marked as nesting sanctuaries for birds. At certain times, it looked like popcorn on the trees from all the white birds.

We also tried to find animals in the water. We took the Kayaks out to watch the dolphins. We tried some fishing, but mostly caught crabs. We did see a sting-ray, jelly fish, and a small shark too.

Back on land, the kids made a fort to get in the shade,

played in the sand,

and tried to catch minnows in the tide pools at the south end of the island.
