There are many milestones in a pregnancy. For us making it past the first trimester was obviously the biggest, then finding out the sex at 15/16 weeks, then 20 weeks because it's the end of possibility of miscarriage. Today at 24 weeks is a new milestone - VIABILITY!
What that means is that there is now a chance of survival (about 50%) if the baby were born today. Obviously we want him to stay in there for several more months, but it's nice to know that if something happened, he might be okay. From here his chances only increase. There is an 80-90% chance of survival at 27/28 weeks, so that is the next milestone to come. It's also the beginning of the 3rd trimester.
That's huge!! After all you two have been through, this is such a meaningful day!
