Charlie birthday

On December 23rd, we woke Charlie up and sang happy birthday with a cake and candle. I didn't get a picture until the cake was being eaten for breakfast in our bedroom...

After our nutritious start to the day, we let Charlie open his cards and presents.

Then we picked up Charlie's friend, Connor, and headed to the aquarium. Daddy took the day off so he could come too. Thank goodness for that! Those boys run fast. They were so sweet pointing things out to each other.

We got there just as it was opening so we got to see a lot of divers in the tanks cleaning and feeding. Here they are watching a diver at the bottom of the tropical fish tank.

There is a new area of the aquarium open upstairs that has more interactive exhibits. It was fun to have something new to see and the kids loved the new stuff.

From the new area upstairs, you can see the top of several tanks, including this view of the beluga whales.

Back downstairs, we had to check out Charlie's favorite place, the big tank.

The three boys hung out together a lot, while Holly and I tried to keep up.

Finally it was time to take a break and stop for lunch. We found a quiet spot in the empty ballroom where we were able to spread out and eat lunch while we watched the fish.

Before we left, the kids wanted to go visit the penguin tunnel again.

And it wouldn't be a birthday without a stop for ice cream on the way home!

After dropping off Connor and getting some naps, we went over to Lala's house that evening to celebrate Christmas with Memaw Rex, Aunt Patty, and Uncle Ray. Lala had some cookies ready for the kids to decorate. We got to take them home to leave for Santa! (Thank you, Lala!)

Charlie showing us how he can be the letter "C".

Holly was super excited about her make-up and brushes. They are all pretend but they look real. Now maybe she will stop stealing mine!

mmmm.....oreo balls...the perfect way to end a day of sugary fun!

Time to head home for bed. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve!
