Myrtle Beach Vacation - Part 1

We recently took our annual Holbrook family vacation to Myrtle Beach. We went with Kyle's parents (Nana and Poppy), Aunt Stephanie, Uncle Cam, Maddie, Wes, and Maddie's friend. It was our first long car trip with the mini-van and we were so thankful for the space (and the DVD player for Charlie!).

While Mom and Dad packed up the van, Charlie showed us how to drive. He was ready to go!

Once on the road, Charlie enjoyed some Barney and a cereal bar in the back seat.

After a few hours, he decided to take a nap. He had trouble getting comfortable, but it wasn't for lack of trying.

We finally made it to the beach, where Charlie and Poppy had a much needed snack.

The first few days we spent a lot of time at the pool. Charlie wasn't a huge fan of the beach at first. He is fearless at the pool though, and loved this shallow area where he could get in and out a million time over and over.

He also showed Daddy and Nana his new swimming skills. (He can't swim but he knows how to kick his legs and move his arms to look like he is swimming.)

Charlie's other favorite activity at the pool is jumping in from the sides. You have to be ready for him because he'll jump in anywhere and any time, whether you are ready or not!

In addition to the pool, we stayed busy taking Charlie to some fun activities around Myrtle Beach. Our first stop was the Children's Museum. Charlie's favorite part was this sock hockey rink.

He also enjoyed the chalk board and soon had chalk all over their face.

Another stop was the miniature golf course. Charlie brought his own putter from home. He tried so hard to get the ball into the hole, but when it wouldn't work, he just picked it up and put it right next to the hole, then tapped it in...whatever works, buddy!

Next up, Charlie at the beach!
