Charlie is officially two months old! (as of last Wednesday). Yesterday was his two-month check-up. He's up to 23" (48th percentile) and 10 lb. 15.3 oz. (28th percentile). The doctor noticed a click in one of his legs (at the hip socket) and wants to send him for an ultrasound just to make sure that his bone isn't out of the socket. More than likely it's just an overstretched ligament from the way he was positioned in the womb. The other part of the check-up was his two-month shots. Yuk. He screamed in a pitch that I had never heard before and was miserable all evening with a fever, even with Tylenol. Poor guy. Today he is doing better but he still doesn't seem like himself.
So what is Charlie like at 2 months? Here are some of his recent activities:
- Starting to enjoy bath time and splashing around in the water
- Swating at his toys more and grabbing on to them
- More smiles and cooing
- Longer sleeping stretches at night (usually one 4-6 hour stretch, then at least 3 hours)
- Moved bed time up to 9:00 p.m.
- Still not much of an eat/sleep routine during the day. Every day is different, even if he is waking up at the same time. He does seem to sleep the same at night, no matter how much sleep he got during the day. The doctor thinks this may be due to foods I eat that give him trouble. I may try formula during the day and nursing at night (since he seems okay at night) to see if it makes a diference.
- Mimicking - Charlie tries very hard to stick out his tongue and he moves his mouth while you're talking to him.
- He still rolls over during tummy time, but it's much harder for him now and he gets frustrated if he can't do it.
- Not quite as in love with his pacifier. It still calms him down at times, but other times he just refuses it altogether.
The two month shots were the worst for Ella. He'll bounce back in a couple days and be his happy, smiley self.
