3 Months (For Real)

Here are some notes about the three month mark.

• Hair loss - I've listed this one before but this time it's for real! He is practically bald on the sides. He's also got a mild case of craddle cap. Here is a picture of him as a newborn versus now.


• Swaddling - Charlie is beginning to outgrow all of his swaddles. He wakes himself up fighting to get his hands free and he hates being put in the swaddle. BUT, when he's not swaddled he wakes up by accidentally hitting himself in the face and it takes him much longer to fall asleep. I've pretty much given up on the swaddle since he fights it anyway (using a sleep sack instead), but it's definitely an adjustment and it's taking longer to get him to bed at night.
• Growth spurt? - I don't know if it's the swaddling or a growth spurt but the past few nights Charlie has gotten up twice to eat instead of just once. I'm not enjoying this...hope it doesn't last.
• Reflux - It's still better, but still not gone. We're still doing the Zantac twice a day. When his reflux is bad, he eats about every 2 hours because he starts to hurt while eating, refuses to eat any more, and then gets hungry 2 hours later because he didn't eat much.
• Sucking on his arm - Charlie has been clasping his hands and putting them in his mouth for a while now, but he recently decided that his wrist/forearm is much yummier and he sucks on it all the time.

• Cooing - His cooing is more frequent and more varied. He really seems like he's trying to talk.
• Rolling over - Charlie can roll over again rather easily most of the time, but he can still get frustrated when he's tired and can't get it. He only rolls from belly to back, not back to belly. But he does stretch on to his side a lot when he is laying on his back.
• Tongue - Charlie has figured out how to stick out his tongue and he is so proud of himself when he does it.
• Kicking - Charlie never stops wiggling but he's especially into kicking things lately. He LOVES to have his diaper off and that's when he really gets his legs going, stretching them out as far as he can and banging them on the table.
• Clothes - So far, Charlie has been right on schedule with most clothes. He's too big for 0-3, fits most 3 month and 3-6 month clothes, and he also wears the Carter's 6 month size.
• Baby carrier - We're finally able to use a baby carrier and Charlie seems to like it. He hated it at first but now that he can face out, he enjoys it.
