This weekend, Georgia Tech was playing at Notre Dame. Since my Dad grew up about 20 minutes away from the campus, in Elkhart, it was a great chance to visit his hometown and go to an away game! Early Thursday, we left the kids with Nana and Poppy, and headed out with my Dad for the long drive up north. Luckily for me, Dad and Kyle did all the driving. :) Charlie told me to take this puppy with me so I would have something to hold if I was sad and missed home. We tried to take pictures of him while out and about.
Twelve hours later, we arrived in Elkhart, got settled in the hotel, and made our way over to Simonton Lake, to visit one of Dad's old friends. He took us out for a pretty sunset boat ride.
The next day, Friday, we had the whole day free to tour Elkhart. I have been there many time before, but not in about 20 years. We visited a museum (run by a man who knew my Dad when he was a child), saw several of Dad's old friends, took another boat ride on the St. Joseph river, and visited the grave sites of several family members.

Saturday was the big day at Notre Dame. The campus is just as beautiful as I remember. Everyone there is so polite and nice! It was almost strange how different it is from football in the south. It was very nice but lacked some of the excitement of the party and rowdiness I'm used to with college football.

The Fighting Irish came out on top, but Georgia Tech gave it a good run at the end. That evening, we went back to the hotel to watch Georgia beat South Carolina and rest for the ride home.
