Family Pictures

Well, we had family pictures taken. We did a mini-session, which is supposed to be 45 minutes. It didn't go so well. We had to postpone them when Charlie busted his lip, so the photographer had to work us into the schedule the next week, which meant the location was not our choosing and it was about 40 minutes away.

Once we got there, it was a bit of a walk from the car to the area of the park where were were meeting her. We were about 5 minutes early and in those 5 minutes, Charlie got a huge splinter in his finger. He FREAKED out. I ran, in heals, back to the car to get some tweezers. By the time I got back the photographer was there and Charlie was covered in snotty tears, still screaming. The photographer took Holly (and Grandpa Chuck who had come to help out) to take some pictures while I got the splinter. We got Charlie calmed down and tried to take pictures. We got a couple of family pictures and then Holly decided she was done. We could not get her to cooperate or stand still at all. Then Charlie thought he was stung by a bee (which he had been the week before when we were in the mountains) and he freaked out again. He quickly calmed down once he realized that he was not stung and we tried again to get a few pictures. What I really wanted was a picture of Charlie and Holly together, but Holly was being so stubborn. We tried to get them to sit on a rock together but Holly jumped up every time we sat her down. Charlie grabbed her arm, trying to get her to stay, and accidentally slammed her head into the rock. At that point it had already been 45 minutes and I was ready to give up. Holly screamed and there was no calming her down. Our time was up and we left. We didn't get any pictures of the kids together. Sigh. We'll try again this spring. Next time we're going to do it at home. Here are the pictures the photographer sent.
